Company of Cyclists’ Youth Inclusion
Services
We have developed a format of bike
try-out roadshow for young people in challenging areas, helping them
appreciate the benefits of cycling as a form of cheap and independent
mobility. We can bring along a wide variety of bikes including
eye-catching multicycles, tandems, trikes, recumbents,
eccentric-wheeled fun-bikes, body-swerve Trikke cycles and BMX's.
Under certain circumstances we may also be able to bring along a
trials stunt show, or a single stunt rider. We also have the resources
and appropriate staff to cater for those with special needs should
this be required.
We give young people the opportunity to ride some amazing bikes,
take on some skills challenges, and learn about cycle maintenance
etc. Our track staff are specially selected and experienced in this
work, and recognise the particular demands of this kind of event.
We provide customised colour leaflets and posters to advertise the
event, along with a CD of images, publicity ideas and sample press
releases for your local media work.
Previous clients include the Liverpool Local transport Initiative
(Summer Splash), South Holland District Council, Southampton City
Council and Oldham Borough Council.
If you really want us to come to town in a big way, we can bring
more than one of our roadshow units, with several ‘megabikes’.
An even better way for you to provide cycling and health-related
services to disengaged young people is to set up a mobile unit of
your own, perhaps as part of your Neighbourhood Renewal bid. We
would be delighted to help you with such a project, and perhaps
even manage it.
